Artist's Description
Soft light filters down through a canopy of new green leaves. The trees in the forest are budding after the long hibernation of deep winter snows that have melted away. Bright green mosses cover the boulders that keep surfacing due to the action of repeated frosts and ground freezes, Spring is in the air and beckons the viewer to travel along the abandoned road in this Vermont hardwood forest.
This 16 x 20 inch oil painting was inspired by my hikes along the abandoned "Old County Road" in Topsham, Vermont where I lived for a quarter of a century.
