Description

I captured this giant wave hitting the shore in Poipu, Kauai, after three hurricanes passed to the north of the Hawaiian islands in September of 2015, creating giant seas. For scale as to how big this wave is, note the palm trees on the far upper left. The shore was dangerous as the waves were unpredictable, even sweeping over coastal roads. Exposure at f11, sutter speed 1/500 sec. Lens focal length 240mm.
