Description
An ancient lone pine clings to life on the edge of a cliff in Northern California's Lassen Volcanic National Park. The rock fractures and splits beneath the tree exposing it roots to the dry air at an elevation of 8,000 feet. Yet it still lives despite the harsh environment on the sides of the nation's only active volcano that blew it's top in a series of fiery explosions and lava flows from 1915 to 1919.
