Description
Ancient lava fields are cut into by the seasonal winter rains that produce cascades and this 90 foot tall waterfall at Table Mountain in Oroville, California which is the remnant of an ancient volcano. The relatively flat ancient lava fields that can still be found all over the mountain. Part of the Lovejoy Formation, the mountains are believed to date back to 14 million and 39 million years ago. Table Mountain is noted for it's profusion of over 100 species of wildflowers that blanket the lava fields and outcroppings every spring. This photo is intriguing with it's offset angle and diagonal composition and looks stunning as a large print on canvas or acrylic!
